Hotel reception areas were undergoing complete refurbishment and substitute areas were very poor. The booking.com website did not make this clear and transparent and we only noticed when we checked the hotel details that it was stated but not too obviously. Our view is that it should be very clear on the booking.com site and there should be transparency about the reduction given for this reason.
